I want as much info on rescue swimmers as possible. My recruiter told me that when I'm not out on a mission I would be in the gym working out. He made it sound like a dream job but the more I research the more I realize it is kind of lame. It won't be as much action as I thought. How many rescue missions do you go on a month? Computer doesn't ign a letter to new external hard drive.?

Just recently bought a new Ultra Speed external 640GB drive and when I plug it in and turn it on, the computer recognizes it but doesn't show it in the 'my computer' folder. I tried igning/changing the drive letter in sys mgt but it doesn't it shows unknown address or something. Is it possible that the disk letter could be hidden somewhere in windows or something? Thyroid cont ion w/ high triglycerides...any suggestions for getting it lower?

I am being medicated for a hypothyroidism. I got test results today that show that my thyroid is getting back to normal but my triglycerides are at 255. My colesteral is fine. I try to eat a low fat diet (been rough with the holidays) and don't eat a lot of sweets. I don't want to go on more medication. Any suggestions? My doctor mentioned some drug that blocks fat? What is a 2 step procedure to synthesize nicotine from nicotonic acid?

We are attempting to synthesize nicotine from another reactant such as nicotonic acid for a project in Organic Chemistry Lab. It is a pretty open lab so we can use whatever reactants we we want; we just have to end up with the desired product (nicotine), and it must be a two-step procedure. i.e. we must start with something like nicotonic acid, convert it to something else, and then convert that product to nicotine. If anybody has any knowledge of something like this (or even another synthesis idea) we would greatly appreciate it. Probably more than to replace it with a JDM engine. My understanding is that Japanese emission regs are so tight that engines have to be replaced between 50K and 100K miles. I am trying to install windows 98se OS on an older computer that previously had Winodws XP on it but crashed. I made a boot disk, no problem and it loads and I made a MS_DOS boot partition disk to allow it to run. Also no problem. However, during the setup process, the Windows Scan process checks the sys. registry and a prompt keeps telling me to "remove all floppy disks from my drives and push any key to restart". I don't have a floppy disk in drive A: (I'm using a CD to setup)and everytime I do it, it keeps making me start the whole setup from CD process from scratch. (P.S. I have also tried to remove the CD before startup to see if it was referring to that as the floppy...no dice.) I'm sorry for the lengthy question, but I need some seriously accurate help and I wanted to be clear as to what the problem was. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Car "accident" with insurance?

Yesterday I backed up into an incorrectly parked car - my fault. I met up with the owner and told her what happened, we exchanged info, the police officer came, etc. I am handling this through my insurance. Her insurance called last night asking for info and I gave it to them. Called my insurance this morning - they faxed a Star70 form up to Indy...what else is going to go down now? She has been leaving me voicemails saying she is going to have her lawyer call me and that i'm going to be put in jail. I'm like...wtf? Then she sends me a message on Facebook saying the same thing. I am personally amazed that she actually took the time to look my name up on Facebook. I did not even know her name until she sent me a Facebook message. I have never had any sort of car accident before so I am very confused. I dented her car by the front tire by backing into it. I am just confused...why would she be threatening legal action when the insurance can cover it? I am thinking she has some issues...is it worth losing sleep over?

I need help caring for children who are not biologically mine?

I am 26 years old and I started mentoring 2 absolutely amazing, young ladies (ages 12 & 14) 3 years ago. Recently, their parents up and left to California without them. The father is addicted to crack cocaine and the mother is addicted to the father. The children never had clothes that fit and the father would spend the food stamp money on crack. When they left they asked if they could give the children to me and sign me power of attorney for the children. My instincts and soul asked God what I should do and I felt if they had no other family who cared then I would take them and do the best I could financially. Little more about me I am a full time student going for my BS in Human Nutrition. I have a little less than 2 years left. I am recently engaged and we just purchased our first home together in a great school district for the girls. My fiance works full time and attends college part time for Criminal Justice. The frustrating part of the lovely situation is that the government does not want to ist us at all in raising and re socializing these young ladies. Their parents would receive all the help in the world and never even applied it to caring for their children. My fiance and I are completely capable of caring for ourselves but wow kids are expensive to care for, we do not have any children of our own. We love watching the girls play sports, helping them with their homework, doing crafts or baking, and just enjoy watching them be kids again. As the holidays approach I am sadden that I will not be able to provide them gifts under the tree. Winter is approaching and the girls have grown out of all their old winter clothes. Burglery charge?

Okay so Saturday night i was with a few friends and we were driving home from a party when 1 friend decides he wants to break into a car.. my other friend gets out of the car and they walk up to the car they want to hit. Turns out the guy who screamed eh was a off duty police officer who saw them break into the car. my 2 friends hop in the car and we drive away.. about 2 minutes of driving and we hear sirens and we get pulled over and aressted. we all get booked and charged with burglery. my parents bailed me out my bail was 10,000 so we paid 1,000. i have court of the 15th of Febuary and i wanna know if they can charge me with anything. the off duty officer said 2 kids were breakin into the car and 1 male (which was me) was in our car.. so can they charge me with the burglery charge?

Let's start w/the drugs im on (prescribed) I take Lamotrigine which is generic for Lamictal. This drug is used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorders. i have twitched at made ticks and had ocd since i was really little. i take 2 200mg pills a day. Today i accidentally took a double dose. Then my gma gave me 2 advil for my back(it was called somethin else, starts with an "a") and then took 2 ibuprofren cuz i completely forget bout the lamictal. i went into work at 4 today and 30 minutes after i got there my left eye felt like it was out of place it felt like it was looking to the right. im a cashier at a grocery store and i couldnt read the numbers or count the cash, i became really dizzy and ran to the bathroom everynow and then. I'd throw up and p out over and over till i got off which was at 9:30. My manager found me in the bathroom. my lips were blue, my gums were white and i was cold and pale. I went back to work, thinking i could. i kept ping out and swaying, my speech was slurred. i have not been takeing any other abusive drugs beside prescriptions. My nose was bleeding and i was dripping sweat. I'm scared this is goin to happen again. it felt like all a dream cuz i couldnt hear myself tlk or other ppl talk. it was like Charlie Brown, but im being serious. he is probably stressed because the tank is overpopulated and getting ill due to amonia build up in the water. you will have to do a lot of water changes for that many fish in such a small tank. i recomend upgrading to a larger tank, like a thirty gallon. if you got a fifty you could increase the size of each of your schools to a more reasonable amount and your fish would be much more active and happy. good luck

Hi, I have a 99 Plymouth Breeze. The headlights are so dull you can barely tell they are on. Not even when they are on high but they are on. I replaced them with new lightbulbs but again barely made a difference. I was thinking of replaceing them with the white lights that are $50 but I am afraid this may not help either so I would hate to drop $50 for nothing. Is this a sign of a failing computer power supply unit?

Whenever I do a full shutdown and try to boot up again, my case fan blows at full speed (or close to it), my hard drives spin up but do no reading or writing and my DVD drive indicator LED illuminates, showing that they have been powered on. Also, my monitor displays nothing. It just says "No input" and then after 3 seconds goes into power save mode. I know for a fact that it is not an issue with my VGA cable or with my integrated Radeon HD 3200. It will only successfully boot if I leave it set for an hour or two. I'm uming it's a PSU related issue, considering that I have a generic LiteOn 300W stock PSU. I'm really considering going out to Best Buy and purchasing a new Corsair 500W (or some other brand that I can trust), but I want to know for sure if it's going to help me fix this problem or not. I'm selling it to a friend soon and I don't want him having a sketchy computer. I also am lacking in an extra, working PSU, so I can't exactly troubleshoot it directly.

I have a brazilian jiu jitsu competition in 9 days and need to be under 85 kgs. I am currently about 87 kgs and have cut 8kgs in the last 8-10 weeks but feel I have lost alot of my gas. I got a 2130 on the march test and I heard that the Critical Reading section was unusually more difficult than usual. I'm going to take it again to raise my CR score up from a 650 and hopefully get a 2200. I think the scores for the schools you listed are like an average of 2100 of a little higher. Cornell is definitely the easiest Ivy League school to get into and i think the average score there is around a 2090.

Alpha dog question?

I'm fostering two brittany/lab mix pups that are about 9 weeks old. I named them Remus and Sirius (yes, I'm a huge Harry Potter geek! LOL) My question is this: Remus is obviously the alpha dog. He rules the roost. He even tries to keep Sirius from eating. Sirius is a huge pansy. Why do you think that this OJ trial was not like the last trial?

I think this Judge, as opposed to Ito in the first trial, wasn't about to let the fiasco take place. She was there to get the job done and over with rather than basking in the glory of the media, and I admire her for that. I also think people are pretty sick of OJ's antics that have continued since the murder of Nicole and Ron Goldman. He has been his own worst enemy, but, has failed to recognize no one thinks he is as relevant as he thinks he is. He may have out-smarted himself with this one, though. It's too bad. He could have contributed a lot to society by helping others rather than being the narcissist he obviously is.

I broke up with my ex 4 months ago and it's been a rocky road since. I ended it because, although I gave him many chances, he continued to lie to me and cheat with his ex. He's apologized and begged me to give him another chance, but still denies cheating even though I have IMs and myspace messages that show him cybering with some girl, plus I know he spent A LOT of time with his ex, including a weekend getaway, which he first lied about and said she was a guy friend, but after I found proof, he made some crazy excuse and said nothing happened. After I refused to talk to him or give him yet another chance, he started spying on me, stalking me online, insulting me and even had his friends attack me. Its been hell, yet he continues to tell me he loves me and can't live without me. I absolutely do not want him back and I've told him so, I've finally come to recognize what a toxic man he is. However, I've been talking to him thru email and occasionally on IMs because it seems to keep him from torturing me like he did when we first broke up. But no matter how many times I explain why we will never work, he continues to bring up getting back together. I told him it would be better if we didn't talk anymore because it seems to be preventing him from moving on but he gets all upset and begs me not to.

IPod nano 6th gen shutting down on its own?

Laptop's built-in network adapter failed...what's the best alternative to connect to a wireless network?

My HP Pavillion DV6000 built-in wireless network card crapped out on me and no long works. I was wondering what the best solution would be to connect to my wireless network. I don't think there is a bus adapter, but there is a slot where the wireless remote is stored that appears as though a wireless card would fit. I'm weary of getting a usb adapter as I hear they are incredibly slow.
