Girl help needed! i know its long but plz help! 10 points best answer!?

Two girl friends of mine are best friends.at a party a couple nights ago one of them (Lisa) comes up to me and asks if i have my eye on anyone.i said nah not really.she said are you sure and was kind of pointing out Mel.i played dumb and said like who and she said Mel.Later Mel comes up to me and says i should hook up with Lisa.i said lisa said the same thing about her just before and mel said she knew. but a mate of mine and a good mate of lisa's likes lisa alot so i said nah i dont feel like it.later lisa came up and asked why i hadnt hooked up with mel yet coz we were talking lots before.i kind of brushed it off.about 3 times later that night mel came up and asked y i hadnt hooked up with lisa yet but i didnt wanna tell her the true answer so i said i didnt fell like it.later in the night mel hooked up with some other guy.why would they both try and hook me up with their best friend at the same time.they were obviously talking about me throughout the night.why would they confuse me?
