Activsync and Outlook 2007?

Outlook will only open in (safe mode) Sync will not connect via USB to Windows Mobile 6. I wouldn't mind but because Outlook won't work cannot add programmes to phone or sync music/pictures. Going steadily mad after trying all Microsoft remedies.
