Laptop Wireless Issue! Why wont it pick up on any signals?

I had a problem with my laptop last night. the wireless icon disappeared, reappeared and it wont pick up wireless signals so i took it to best buy. they said i have a trojan, tracking cookies and a system monitor. Its $189 to fix but i really dont want to pay that much, is there anything i can do on my own to fix it?
